How GeeLenny Makes Money

The short version
Right now, GeeLenny doesn't make any money. It isn't a business yet — it's a free directory my wife and I built after our own wedding, because we spent months digging through reviews trying to figure out which vendors were actually worth booking, and it was exhausting. Hosting, the domain, and everything else is paid out of our own pocket. No ads, no affiliate links, no vendor paying us for anything.
Why we're telling you this before you ask
Almost every review site out there makes money in some way tied to the businesses it reviews — paid placement, "featured" listings, or advertising from the very vendors being rated. That's exactly the problem GeeLenny was built to get away from. So instead of waiting for someone to ask "wait, how do you actually make money?", we'd rather just tell you upfront.
No vendor can ever pay to be featured, ranked higher, or to have a negative review removed — no matter how GeeLenny is funded in the future. That's not a marketing line, it's the entire reason this site exists.
Where things stand today
GeeLenny is brand new, small, and unmonetized. That's genuinely fine with us for now — the priority is building something honest and useful for Ontario couples, not squeezing revenue out of a handful of reviews. If the site never makes a cent, it still did its job: helping real couples make better decisions with real information.
If that ever changes
As GeeLenny grows, we may eventually explore ways to cover costs — for example, offering vendors optional backend tools, like basic analytics on how many people viewed or clicked through to their listing. That kind of thing lives entirely behind the scenes and never changes what couples actually see: not their rating, not their ranking, not their reviews. Basic listing info — photo, contact details, links to their website and Instagram — is already free for every vendor and always will be. If we ever do introduce anything like paid tools, it will be clearly labelled on the site, and this page will be updated to explain exactly how it works.
What we won't do: let anyone pay to appear more trustworthy than they actually are. Reviews on GeeLenny reflect real experiences from real couples, full stop — that doesn't change based on who's paying for what.
